Biography
A Hispanic-American actress and playwright with a professional career spanning over 35 years. Serrano began as a dancer in 1987, until acting opened its doors to her with the lead role in the television series Brigada Central, which launched her to international fame.
On stage, she has been directed by acclaimed directors such as John Malkovich, Omar Grasso, and Daniel Börh, to name a few. She has also acted in over 20 television series in Spain, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. In 2008, she moved to London to study at the Actor's Center, before moving to Los Angeles, CA, in 2012. There, she spent almost a decade enriching her career with work under the direction of renowned directors such as John Finn and Bobby Moresco, among others, while honing her artistic skills at prestigious schools including The Beverly Hills Playhouse, Ivana Chubbuck Studio, The Actor's Gang with Tim Robbins, UCB Improv, and Santa Monica College, among several others. Her experience across various countries and stages worldwide has developed her versatility as an actress and skilled performer.
She is pursuing studies in Narrative and Creative Writing at the Escuela de Letras de Madrid and the Escuela Contemporánea de Humanidades under the guidance of Alejandro Gándara. She also trained in playwriting and screenwriting at Santa Monica College, Los Angeles, CA. She directs private acting workshops and provides coaching for actors in both English and Spanish.
She was a finalist in the International One-Minute Monologue Competition in Burbank, Los Angeles, CA, with her original monologue, "Susana's Confession."
In 2021, she published her first play, Cariño, ya que estás de pie…, which she directed and produced as a microtheater version for the International Short+Sweet Hollywood Latino Competition and as a staged reading at The Cavern Club, both in Los Angeles, CA. Her second play, Jamás sin ti, was published a year later. She is the author of the short films All plants were dry, Cariño, ya que estás de pie…, and ¡Ahá!
